  • Rugrats (Alice)

    Thyferra

Well, I suppose this is a step up from Vjun...

Maize chuckled as he surveyed the spaceport where the Sabre was presently docked. He was waiting for Alice or a servant to come pick him up there. While he kept on the look out for one or the other, the ex-Sith went and bought himself a caf and just people watched.

When time had come for Maize to visit her, Alice had extended the invitation to Thyferra. It felt weird that her former Master would be first to see the new estate, rather than Marcus, but she guessed that it was just how things were.

The Sith Master had spent the last hours in a meeting for the new agreement she had struck with a local scientific company, and then headed to the spaceport, as she had chosen to go fetch Maize herself.

As she arrived, she easily found him. "Finding you with a cup of caf, what a surprise." She stated as she showed up. She grinned a bit devilishly. "Welcome to Thyferra, Maize."

Maize chuckled and gave Alice a quick embrace. It wasn't something they'd ever done before, and he likely startled her with it, but - if nothing else - Maize was good at shocking her! He tossed the paper cup of caf in the trash bin beside him.

"You look good, Master Pyrrin," he said with a roguish grin. "Life keeping you busy and fit, huh?"

Maize chuckled. He'd had twin babies. He couldn't imagine what it was like with triplets!

Alice blinked as Maize gave her a quick embrace. "That's new." She remarked, smirking, though she hadn't attempted to kick him away. "Well thanks, Mr. Wayne." She grinned. It felt weird to have a personal guest on Thyferra. "I mostly hear Mrs. Pyrrin on this planet." She didn't impose her Sith title when going through business projects.

"Well, you can say that." Her expression was sour for a mere moment before she shrugged. "The little ones are happy here. They're already starting to crawl." She added with motherly pride.

        "How are you?"
She asked, as they took place in her speeder.

Maize shrugged and grinned, hands sliding into his pockets as he followed her to the 'speeder. It was hard to picture his protege as a mother, though it went without saying that Alice could do whatever she set her mind to.

"Time flies. And... I'm well," he said, strapping in for the ride. "Can't exactly complain, and nobody would want to hear it anyway. Right?"

Alice didn't know how she felt about Maize's visit. On one side, she was happy to see him and introduce him to his grandchildren; on the other end, she didn't know whether it might make her armor crack in plain daylight, when she normally kept everything hidden until the dark nights.

"I've yet to meet someone who'd want to hear anyone complain." She said with a smirk, though her hands briefly tightened around on the controls.

The ride to the estate, didn't last long. The mansion was different from her ancestral fortress on Vjun, but she had fallen in love with it. "You're the first personal visitor. I only saw business contacts so far."

"If I wasn't your first, I'd be highly insulted," Maize said with a laugh.

He eyed the mansion, finding a curiously vague resemblance to the estate he'd once lived in... and had torched in a fit of his madness years ago. Maize wondered at the odds of that.

"Nice place. Can't imagine your heating bill. Then again, just shoot fireballs into each hearth and you're good to go, right?" he quipped in his usual teasing way.

Alice smirked. "True that personal bonds aren't my forte." She chuckled darkly at what he said about the heating bill. "Good thing that money isn't an issue." She loved the estate and it had helped her keep busy and not completely lose it for the past months, though she knew she was threading a thin line.

"The guest rooms are in the north aisle."
She explained as she showed him where he'd be staying. "And the little monsters are upstairs in the West one." She was curious to see how the triplets would react to their grandfather. It wasn't as if they ever saw the Pyrrin side anyway. And she had no one left on her own.

Maize eyed Alice pensively, then nodded as she showed him around the estate.

"So, where's mini-me while you're doing business and playing new mom?" he asked. "Not skulking around Munto Codru, is he?"

Alice's naturally blue eyes suddenly and briefly flashed a red glow as Maize inquired about Marcus. She shrugged as she continued to show him around.

"I don't know though he's probably on Bastion spending time with his new best friend. We mostly meet when both on Vjun."
                    She explained.

"I guess I should have killed one or two of the triplets to make things easier, but that wasn't an option for me." Of course, she knew that deep inside, it wasn't one for Marcus either, but it was still how she felt about the situation.

Maize caught Alice's expression and quirked a brow at the odd response she made. He didn't want to, really, but Maize felt like he had to bite and ask.

"Well, Imperial ties are good to forge these days," he said pragmatically. "But what's this nonsense about killing off my descendants? Not that either of you are exactly the parental type... but hey, neither was I when we started out. So what's going on?"

"I have been forging imperial ties of my own as well." Alice remarked flatly. She had nothing against Marcus having friends and she didn't feel threatened by Katja. What she disliked was that she just felt him drift away since she had given birth and she had no idea how to make things better.

"I think that my childbirth with an old ancestor trying to kill me and the fact we have three kids don't sit well with him. Doing races and having fun with Katja on Bastion is certainly more entertaining to him." She added in a sour tone. "This is also why I decided to establish myself on Thyferra. Wonderful professional opportunities and it also makes for a certain kind of violent playground." She admitted with a smirk. She didn't even know whether Marcus would see this place or when, but she liked it.

Maize hesitated, trying to work out what Alice was saying and what it meant. He'd never been good with interpersonal relations and this was no exception.

"But you're still... together, right?" he asked, not knowing how else to ask.

Alice hadn't peeped a word about what was going on to anyone. Maize's question made her fear and anger flare harshly, and without looking into a mirror, she knew her eyes had flashed red for a longer time.

"I believe we are." She said with a shrug. The only way she would leave Marcus would be if he cheated on her. Other than that, they could work things out. "I mean, it's just that he needs his space."

She smirked sadly. "I've been tempted to go the old fashioned way and go grab him and bring him home screaming, but I know it would be the wrong move right now. He has his space, I have mine, I guess."

"You might want to do that," Maize said.

He wasn't prone to prophecy, but he was Corellian and when he had a bad feeling about something, he tended to vocalize that much. He couldn't say why he felt so strongly to say that aloud to his sort of daughter-in-law, but Maize went with his gut on such things.

"Well. You going to show me the monsters or what?"
