Adan hadn't really planned to stop by Drifter's. Yet, his ship had needed refueling as he traveled back to Telos after having just spent time in the Corellian system, tracking a terrorist. The local Intelligence service had been very helpful and he had been glad to collaborate again with some people from CorSec.

The NRIS field agent liked his work for the Republic though so he didn't feel any nostalgia towards his olds days in CorSec. The new life he had found had tons of opportunities and he was glad for this.

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't realize that his stroll had taken him right in front of the entrance of one of the most famous - or infamous - shops of the station. Since he was here, he could as well check the Emporium out.

The loud clang of a hydrospammer hitting metal shocked Verica from her data pad as she glanced around the tall chair and back into the engineering area of the private freighter. "Vachir, what's going on back there?" Using the Chief's last name had become natural after being in the navy for so long.

"Ahh, this damn thing," the typically controlled veteran technician was obviously at the end of his rope. "We're going to have to go shopping, lieutenant." He pushed himself up and moved out of the tight quarters, wiping his hands off on an already well used rag. "Hope you have the cred card on you."

"Don't have what we need aboard, I take it?"

He grinned, "No. If we did then I'd have to say it's just because Drifter's is such a great vacation spot, but..."

Sighing, she nodded and pushed herself up and headed toward the ramp with him in tow. Slipping her data pad into her leather jacket pocket, they had both intentionally dressed down in civvies for this trip and she hoped that letting her hair down would translate into her language while out in public here as well. No telling who was listening.

Soon, they arrived at the Emporium which was reputed to be stocked with nearly every part that existed in the galaxy. Opening the door for her, Raymond grinned as she headed on inside. The atmosphere of the immense warehouse was a bit overwhelming. Noticing another, older male human seemingly as lost as she was, Verica glanced back to the clean shaven veteran with her.

    "Don't get any ideas."

Raymond's eyes widened at the sight. "No idea what you're talking about."

Adan didn't really have anything on his to buy list, so he was just checking the large shop, in case it'd be worth coming back, or he'd know it if he had to make a quick run for supplies down the line. The Corellian also didn't want to just sit around, so exploring the Emporium was better than nothing.

From the corner of his eyes, the spy saw a man and a woman come in, looking as puzzled as he did just moments ago, and might still be. He overheard the quick exchange and had a hard time not to laugh.

As they walked not far from him in the aisle, he smirked. "Too bad no one thought about handing holo maps of the shop to customers. I bet that it'd make our lives easier and Vaago's wallet larger."

As she moved to begin surveying each aisle, olive eyes glanced to the older male who's kind eyes made her relax a bit more than she had intended on this station populated with nearly every criminal and outlaw in the galaxy.
Grinning, the lieutenant's head motioned to her male companion, "Then I'd never get him out of here."

Raymond shook his head, shrugging as he looked at Adan. "I have an appreciation for ships, what can I say?" His thumb jambed toward Verica, "Be like her going into a clothing shop."

About to protest, she then realized it was probably true and kept her mouth closed.

Adan laughed at the quip. "I think I run away from both types of shops as fast as I can." He smirked, knowing that his mechanical talents had become a bit better but that wasn't his favorite subject or skill set.

"This shop is larger than I expected. First time here, and I think that I'll spend two days before looking at all the wares that might interest me!"

Verica liked this guy more, though she understood that regardless of who they were talking to, he could be an enemy as everyone was welcomed aboard Drifters. Hutts were notorious for their back alley deals and those that they did business with.

Olive eyes turned back to the aisles full of wares and weapons as well as a host of different aliens as well, most of which made her stomach turn. "They certainly keep a wide selection, that's for sure." The comment either being interpreted as the stocked shelves or the clientele.

"Well, I have to find the electronic section," Raymond stated, then glanced back to Adan. "You been here before?" While the men talked, Verica began scanning the signs hovering over the entrance to each aisle and couldn't believe what this place contained.

Adan remarked how the woman looked weird at the sight of a nearby bunch of aliens. He mentally stored the information. He didn't say a word about this, knowing how people from all origins and allegiances spent time on Drifter's.

"I should find something interesting. I can hope." He chuckled before looking at the man and shaking his head to the question. "First time here. Made a pit stop to refuel. You?"

"Got stranded when the regulator in the hyperdrive's auxiliary power module went out. Luckily, she can fly," he motioned to Verica as she continued moving away from them, her eyes on the signs as well as the aliens that got too close, largely ignoring the human female. "Might as well refuel while we're here though. Good idea."

Soon, she noticed the electronics section and motioned for the head engineer, "Found it."

"All things considered, I might run away less quickly from a clothing shop than a ship part one." Adan remarked with a wry grin, as not everything the man said explained what had happened.

He looked through the different weapons, not as impressed as he used to be in other shops. There were a few interesting models though. So he might not leave empty handed. When the woman called out to the other man, he chuckled. "Seems you guys got luckier than me already."

Raymond grinned as he started heading towards the target area, "Yeah, might as well shoot me. Got dragged to a local outlet one time with the girlfriend and never lived that down with the guys later."

Overhearing their conversation as the two approached, Verica shot a devious smile, "Was thinking that after this, I need to stop and get something for a party coming up."

Raymond's face melted as he shook his head and passed her, heading into the aisle as he began perusing the entitled shelves, looking for a particular part. Lingering behind, she moved alongside Adan. "So, you here alone?"

Adan laughed for a good while to what Raymond said. "Well if none of them had a girlfriend as good as yours, they had no reason to give you hell. There's always a way to spin things around." He grinned.

"I'm sure your partner will be delighted to accompany you."

When the blonde then asked him whether he was alone, he nodded. "Indeed. I prefer traveling on my own." He nodded towards Raymond. "I see that you do travel with your favorite maid."

Raymond's eyes shot to the stranger, "Easy, buddy. I'm the only reason our tug is still flying at all." Continuing his shopping, Verica grinned knowing how sensitive the Chief Warrant Officer was about his profession.

"Actually, he's a great technician. Knows everything about ships, so," her attempt at staving off a fight hopefully working. "He's kept us out of some hairy situations in the past." Turning her attention more to their newfound friend. "Traveling alone, sounds rather empty to me. Running to something, or from?" Realizing after the fact that the query may seem a bit intrusive, having just met, but that was her nature.

"Oh that was me being easy." Adan replied with a goodnatured grin. He hadn't expected the man to be so sensitive to the quipping, and he had meant no harm with it. "I tip my hat to any good technician. I'm more skilled with weapons."

He quirked an amused brow to the blonde's intrusive question, but it didn't bother him. After all, he only replied what he chose to. "Years of working as a hired gun, you could say. Old habits die hard. And I enjoy the quiet in between busy times." He had been a hired gun between his times with CorSec and the one with the NRIS. He had learned how using bits and pieces of the truth rather than outright lies was better and more practical.

Hired gun usually meant either mercenary or bounty hunter, she mused and continued slowly following the Chief as he finally reached the parts that he needed to get the ship working again. Hopefully.

"I can appreciate that," Verica replied, avoiding two Weequay and a Devaronian, all three eyeing the human female as she gave them a wide berth. Words in an unknown tongue exchanged and suddenly Verica was glad that this place wasn't allowed to carry weapons. Quirking a raised eyebrow at them, her pride was about to get her in trouble, as the trio then turned back and walked away.

"They think they make you uncomfortable and wonder why." Adan simply said as he had understood the exchange between the aliens before they walked away. He wasn't profficient in many languages, but he understood a few, better than he spoke them.

While imperials were the ones having most problems with aliens generally speaking, Adan didn't draw any quick conclusion about the blonde. He had seen enough of the galaxy to know many situations and histories existed.

"What about you? Running from or to something?" He returned the previously asked question with a grin, as he continued to inspect one of the blaster models.
