  • Stealing You For Lunch [Keir]

"Oh, there is no way you're going to escape this lunch. All arrangements were made." Alienor chuckled, not resisting her fellow workaholic, while Keir got ready to leave his office at the hospital. "I booked us a table at the Brasserie on Creshal street." Her roommate was a skilled cook, but she was a disaster! She easily joked about this lack of culinary abilities of hers though.

They rarely had the opportunity to catch up as life had kept them even busier than before for the past weeks. Both of them having a private life also saw them inclined to spend time with their significant other!

"And yes, I even made sure we get the nice table in the angle on the top floor."
She grinned, lacing her arm with the one she considered like the brother she never had.

"Coming. I'm coming, really," Keir replied.

He stripped off his medical coat and draped it over his chair. Loosening the tie he was wearing, Keir took one last swallow of now-cold caf and gave Alienor a nod.

"Okay, ready. And thank you for making the reservation. They're bound to be busy at lunchtime!" he said, being captain obvious.

As they left his office, Keir patted his pager to make sure it was on his hip. He hoped there was nothing to interrupt a meager lunch break though.

"So who are you again?" he teased, feeling like he hadn't seen Ali in ages.

"Cold caf? Now you remind me of when I'm at the office." Of course, the office meant the Intelligence facilities, but she didn't publicly speak of it, though Keir would know what she meant.

"I promise they have real, fresh and hot caf at the Brasserie." She grinned, so happy to be able to catch up with her friend for lunch. And they'd better not get interrupted!

"Who am I?!" She said with mock horror before chuckling. "I'm the ghost you sometimes see early in the morning who brings you breakfast." She had been unable to do that in a couple of weeks, but hoped to be able to again! "And sometimes I even haunt where you live! The other place, I mean, the flat. You remember the flat, right?"

"Flat, flat... that rings a comm or two, but I thought I lived at the medcenter," Keir replied with a good-natured grin.

As they walked, he bumped Alienor gently with his hip, then wrapped an arm around her.

"How is my ghost of a friend doing these days?" Keir asked. "I've noticed new sheets of music on the piano's stand. I think I know your current projects and pieces better than you these days! I'm sorry for that, Alienor."

"I hear you, though I don't even have a fixed lair!" Between her musical work, volunteering at the hospital and serving with the Imperial Intelligence, Alienor ran around a lot. It was worth it though. So it was what mattered!

She was very happy to see Keir again and she playfully stuck her tongue out at him when he bumped her gently with his hip. "I'm doing good. Busy as hell, but loving it." They both were workaholics, one of the traits they shared.

"I've been working on a few new tunes indeed. I've been thinking about maybe putting a personal recording together." She smiled, having been plotting it for a while. "You don't need to apologize. We both work crazy hours and it's normal that when we get some time, we spend it with certain company."

She quirked a brow. "I hope that things are going well for you and a certain someone. I am still waiting to be properly introduced you know, since you already met my significant other."

Keir smiled, excited to hear that Alienor was thinking of a personal recording. "I'm sure it'd go platinum, or gold, or whatever it is that albums do these days! Your music is stunning."

They'd just about reached the restaurant when she mentioned the fact that she'd yet to meet Mihal. The Corellian flushed and gave Alienor a sidelong glance.

"Yeah, I know, I know. I can't believe you two haven't run into each other in the hospital by now, as often as Miha's there, helping me with research."

Alienor blushed at Keir's compliment. "Thank you! I feel it's time for me to work on something like that. I'm excited about the project."

As they arrived to the restaurant, they were led to the table she had booked. She grinned a little at Keir's reaction when she mentioned Mihal. "We must come at different days and hours."

She thanked the waiter when he came to hand them the menu. She returned her attention to her friend. "There is... There is something I wanted to talk to you about, besides catching up at last."

Keir rubbed his face, trying to relax the blood that had rushed there, making him blush. When the waiter came with menus, he immediately ordered an iced caf because he knew he'd need the caffeine jolt later.

His gaze shifted back to his roommate, lifting an eyebrow. "What's on your mind, friend?"

Alienor chewed on her lip for a moment, before replying to Keir's question. "Nate and I... We've decided to live together." It was her turn to blush, and a lot, at that. "I feel bad for bringing this up, but we were thinking of him moving to the flat."

She managed to look at Keir in the eyes. "Would you mind... Moving out?" She chuckled a bit awkwardly. "I never thought I'd "kick" you out... But yes... That's what I wanted to talk to you about. You're not mad, I hope."

Keir's expression brightened as he smiled, thrilled to hear that Alienor's relationship was that strong and far along.

"Ali, that's fantastic. I'm so happy for you," he said. The physician reached across the table to take her hand in his, giving it a squeeze. "I could never be mad. I'm far too happy for you both. When do you want me out?"

Alienor let out a sigh of relief when Keir reached out to her and said how happy he was for her. "Thank you so much." She chuckled. "I'm relieved that you don't mind my request." She gave a squeeze back to his hand.

"If you could move out within the next month, it'd be wonderful. If I can help with the move as well, you know I will."

                        Keir nodded.

"Of course. You're building a life together. No need for an absentee roommate to confuse the living situation," he said, understanding. "I can be out within the month, no problem."

                        To where? Who knows!

It wasn't as if he or Aurrie had ever lacked for funds... well, except when Maize had frozen their assets and cut them off, temporarily, in a fit of madness. But with that reinstated and his income as an elite imperial physician, Keir could rent or buy whatever he wanted. Knowing the over-extended doctor, he was going to end up with his texts and datacards boxed up and housed in his office, with himself on the couch!

"I'm really happy for you, Ali. Truly."

"I'm still wrapping my mind around all of this. It still feels like yesterday that I was curled up in a ball, sending things flying across my hospital room when we first met. Who would have thought we'd be here today?"

Alienor felt that all of this had been in another lifetime. "I'm grateful for our friendship, Keir." He was what she had closest to family, and it was more than she'd have hoped for.

"Your life has definitely come a long way in a short time," Keir agreed. "I'm happy to have been a part of that."

He sat back as they ordered. While they went through that process, Keir quietly wished that his own relationship was so far along as to make things more permanent with Mihal. His concerns were two-fold with his boyfriend, however. There was the ever-present worry about what would happen to Mihal - if they were soulmates - when he died. The other issue he'd kept to himself thus far was even gloomier to Keir; what if someone else was Mihal's intended bonded?

"Are the two of you thinking marriage?" Keir asked. "Or are talks not that far along?"

Alienor smiled fondly to Keir, still remembering how they had first met, and how they had moved to Bastion together, before their lives continued to evolve in new ways. She was proud of him and the work he had been doing.

She peeked at him a couple of times while perusing the menu. She believed that his relationship with Mihal would continue to develop well. She definitely wished it to him, but she didn't press the matter. She talked about it at times, but both her friend and her tended to remain rather private.

When asked about the perspective of marriage, Alienor blinked and then blushed even harder. "We talked about the future, our future, and mentioned this in passing once or twice." The blonde hoped that Nate and her would eventually get married but she was scared of getting too ahead of herself.
