    Deadwood: Closure

*He walked into the council room, his head held high, and a strange smile dancing across his lips. The smile faded however when he came to a stop before the council. He stood there for a moment before finally he took the strange hat off his head and with a sweeping motion bowed before the members.
He looked back up and sighed before speaking.*

"I realize that this may come as a bit of a shock, or perhaps not. Funny how these things work, huh? But you know you can not always have what you want. Too much sugar in your tea some days, the cream has done sour the next."

*He started to laugh slightly, but the laughter soon died down. The room went quiet again before Raine finally spoke once again*

    "I am leaving the Empire."

:: The tone of her first apprentice's voice caught the Sith Master's attention first and then it was what he actually said. Incredulous as it was, Dara felt her right hand began to shake as the mysterious symbol glowed white on her hand once more. It had been quite a while since that had happened, and the last time it occured she had shot force lightning into Raine's body. As her usually ocean green eyes flashed crimson, she rose from her chair and approached him as she clenched her right hand ::

"What did you just say, my apprentice?"

*Most would have cowered or ran if they saw an angry Sith Master striding towards them. But Raine held his ground. It was obvious his Master was not pleased, but he was still not sure as to what Dara would do. Taking a deep breath he repeated himself.*

"I am leaving the ranks of the Empire. This place is no longer my home."

*The aura of darkness around him told that he was not completely betraying the Empire. In truth, he was still a Sith. His mind and heart spoke of it. He just felt that he was out of place at the Empire and the time had come for him to leave, permanently.*

:: As the symbol glowed brightly and the unknown surge of power built from within, the Sith Master force threw her long time apprentice up against one of the walls of the Council Room and held him there as she began to increase the pressure on his trachea. Dara spoke through clenched teeth as waves of Dark Side energy rippled from her very being, and it was clear that this was a tense moment between a Master and Apprentice ::

"Tell me why you no longer feel this is your home.."

*Despite being choked, the Sith Lord started to laugh again. However, the laugh was far from being "happy", it was deranged, and sent chills down the spine. His eyes locked on Dara's as he spoke, his voice far different from what it once had been. Once dark and gloomy, almost depressing, his voice was now showing what everyone had thought to be true. The Sith Lord's mind had finally cracked.*

"Now now, there's no need for that."

*It took a bit of effort, but he was able to speak while fighting to get the air needed to do so. It took even more effort to break the hold she had on his throat so that he was able to breathe normal again. While rubbing his neck, he continued to speak.*

"You ask why this is not my home? Just look at this place! It smells of death, it begs to have a corpse in every hallway, in every quarters!"

    *Again the laughter started*

"Though I have one that is just perfect if you wish to do that. You'll find her in my room. Perhaps you could hang her next to my old portrait in the hall?"

*He stopped laughing again, just as suddenly as it had started.*

"This is no place for one such as myself. Not when I saw my true home in a vision. It's all just down the rabbit hole, you know? So close and yet so far. I do not know how to get there, but I will not find the way while I am sitting in a room the is stained by the blood of that....GIRL! These halls echo HER footsteps when I walk. And when they do not echo hers, they echo the other one. I hate them both, this was their home."

As I said, Master. THIS is NOT my home. It never was! I was wrong to return here after my body split into two people. You should have seen that. I should have seen that!"

*Pushing himself off the wall, he spun slightly, motioning around him with a hand.*

"Everyone else in this god forsaken place seemed to see it! Or perhaps they all avoided me for another reason? I think not. I am done here. You may say that I am betraying the Empire, but in truth, I never belonged here."

*Again he quieted down, waiting to see if his Master would say anything else. Or if those lurking in the shadows would throw in their two cents. He knew some of them that lurked there, their force signatures were sickeningly familiar.*

:: It was at the moment she heard him speak that Dara realized Raine had changed and the madness had begun to affect him from his earlier transformation. She released the force choke and studied him closely. The Sith Master had no idea of the woman in his quarters that Raine spoke of but she would be sure to go investigate it after she was done here.

The Sith Lord had indeed kept to himself while at the Empire although he did speak and take journeys with her. Perhaps Dara could have done something to help him. His failure to fit in was her failure to not foresee it. Seeing that this departure was necessary for him, the Sith Master decided to just let him go upon the thinking that one day he would find his way back, as most of those who had departed had done. Dara spoke quietly to her long time apprentice ::

"Then go. I shall not keep you somewhere you do not feel that you belong. But remember this, my apprentice, when the voices you hear stop and the smell of death wanes from your senses, I will hope that you one day recall the place you were trained in the Dark Arts and return to us."

Raine's brother, Varlon, had at first moved towards his Master with a hand on his twin darksabre, ready to defend his family, but stopped when he watched Dara release her choke hold with the force. Although still not trusting of the situation, Var shot a glance at Raine to let him know that his brother was ready to move into action if the situation demanded it. Though he stood down from his prepared assault, his hand had not left his side, nor his darksabre as he approached Raine from the darkened shadows.

"Since you are leaving the Empire, brother," He spoke in a soft tone, while not trying tosound as if he was pitying Raine. "Why not at least stay here at many of the sanctuaries? There are plenty of drifters, rogues, and the like that frequent the planet, so it wouldn't be difficult for you to dissappear. Besides, I don't think your niece would let you go..."

*Smirking, Raine looked back to his brother.*

"Oh, you simple minded fool. Have you heard nothing I said? The Empire means nothing to me anymore. Now part of a past that I rather forget. Besides, I don't see why you are so worked up about it, Varlon. You have what you wanted. My other half is always with you, isn't she? As for Takai, I'm sure she'll cope with it all just fine. After all, she seems to be fairing quite well with her lack of a father."

*The smirk widened. And then he spoke again, casting a glance to the shadows that lines the room, he glared slightly at those still hidden in them.*

"Now, does anyone else have anything they would like to add before I rid you all of my presence? Or perhaps that is what you all are waiting for, to join in the celebration that I'm sure the ones who refuse to show themselves have already begun to have."

Such misguided delusions did this one have, what madness racked at his mind in a fevered pitch that devoured his basic judgment. Or may haps he was simply mad, as any had ever been to step into this place. There had been more then a few unbound and questionable mentally healthy people that had served or walked these floors. Although each had a skill that allowed them to be here, a contribution that added to the overall.

The one they called Raine Sarin was an oddity as any. That much was true and if time had permitted Lynch would have enjoyed to study the man in detail where his mind was concern. There could be of worth to discover and perhaps even the source of his madness but from his own words something more was hinted at and such the Sith Master sat and only listened adding the pieces one by one.

Staring at the man Lynch gave no hint of expression but merely watched, this show in its tapestry as it weaved was proving to be an interesting one, one that did not quite call for an intervention his part. Not yet. Not now at least…..

*It had taken her some time to catch up with Raine, but by the time she had, everything was already happening.*

"You idiot! You can't leave here! Think straight for once!"

*Walking out from the shadows that her "brother" had been glaring into she glared right back at him. It was like looking into a twisted funhouse mirror, but she had gotten used to that part in the past year.*

"These people care for you! And you show no emotion! Are you that cold to others? You abandon your Master, you abandon your so-called friends! You abandon your family! I did you a favor by not showing myself to many here. You told me that if I showed myself that you could not stay! Well let it be known then now, since you are leaving!
You are I are the same!"

*She looked to the council and then walked up close to the Sith Lord and glared into his eyes*

"This man lied to you! The Knight that left here did not simply turn into him. She split into two! I am that other half and I claim my right to join this Empire since he is leaving it!"

*Noticing the fact that the Sith Lord appeared as if he was about to attack her she quickly went to slap him.
However...her hand...went through him. Much to both of their surprise.*

    "What the hell...?"

*He had braced himself for the impact, but when it did not come, the two of them found themselves looking at each other in slight shock. It was then he felt it. The dark energy in the room was rising. Then, the Sith Lord saw it, it was a strange vision, very similar to the time so long ago when Lady Shadowtide's first apprentice had been ripped into two different entities.
A young girl sat in the council room...her light blue hair and pale skin making a brilliant contrast against the black in the room. The young girl smirked at the two Zabraki twins in a vision that only they could see. To everyone else, it appeared the two were simply watching the ground intently.
The girl continued to smile even though a dark figure was slowly creeping up behind her. Suddenly the figure pulled out a dagger...slicing the girl's throat and then looking up at the twins with fiery orange eyes.
Rain13, the female twin's eyes widened in horror, while her "brother" simply said two words to her.*
    "Leave now."

*But it was too late and the room was suddenly filled with the sound of screaming in pain and complete horror as the two Sith were engulfed in a sudden strange light. The light was not comforting, it was not even enough to rid the area of the shadows. It simply, hid the two from the eyes of everyone else.
The screams were warping, the two voices changing and did not fade until the light had done so.

And now...where the two known as "Raine" and "Rain" had stood, there only was one. A frail creature, clothed in garments the Sith Lord had been wearing.*

*She stood there for a brief instant, trembling in the oversized clothing that had once belonged to the Sith Lord Raine Sarin. Her eyes wandered slightly around the room and blood dripped from her eyes and what appeared to be brand new tattoos on her face.
She opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came. Her eyes started to close and then finally shut as she passed out and crumpled to the floor of the council room.*

Despite the shock that Varlon felt from watching the strange happenings before him, his instincts were stronger. With powerful, short strides, the Sith Lord was upon the "new" Zabrak lying unconcious in the middle of the room. There was something more... animal to the Sith Lord now as he shot wary glares to those in presence to the spectacle. He was well aware of what happens to many of whom turned their back to the Empire, and wouldn't let it happen to the Zabrak he now held close.

"Anyone makes a move to hurt her," He said in a low growl. "They will not have time to regret it."

:: After the initial shock of the bizarre twist of events had subsided, the Sith Master focused her attention on one of her other apprentices who seemed to be making his concern for this woman known to all ::

"There is no need to take such a tone, my apprentice. No one will bring harm to her or they will have to go through me first. I sense the distinct force signature of Raine Sarin within this woman and she will continue to reside in a state of protection until things are explained. There is much to unlock regarding what has transpired this day and I am certain that all will be revealed in time as the Dark Side works in mysterious ways after all."

Having adjusted his eyes at the brightness as the screams of the two who were enveloped before they merged or combined into one he stood to stand unsure what was first beginning to happen until the act was concluded. With a mixture of awe and curiosity he stared down at the single person who stood in the place of the two former people.

Questions came to him there and interest in finding out what just had exactly happened. Hearing the Darth Lord known as Varlon speak followed by that of the Sith Master Shadowtide the one known as Lynch watched carefully and stood silent. There was nothing for him to do here tonight indeed. But he had just born witness to something quite interesting indeed. Something to investigate later he silently mused to himself.

Varlon calmed slightly, but was far from being ready to let someone else escort the Zabrakan woman to the medbay without his presence. Reaching down, Varlon gently scooped her up and cradles her in his arms. He whispered something quietly to her, then began to start off towards the medbay, not even waiting for Dara, let alone any others.

:: Dara watched as the Sith Lord took his former brother, now transformed into a woman, to the med bay, not interfering with a family matter yet noting the distinct change in Varlon's demeanor. She made a mental note to meet with her apprentice soon to discuss several important matters ::

Once a place that offered the young Zabrak a form of quiet observation and mystery, no longer felt the same.

The shadows, something Zeta once welcomed. Now, now he felt nothing.

He had watched in silent observation, as he always did. It was different this time though. Watching, and he felt nothing. He felt nothing when he should have felt something, anything.

The Zabrak had wanted to walk out, but he found that he could not move, his presence transfixed on where it had all taken place.

His eyes seemed to be glued to that one specific spot, where his Master had been, and the woman.

...And then...and then they were gone, replaced by someone new.

Yet this new being, not entirely new, Zeta could feel his Master's presence in there somewhere. Yet he had done and said nothing, The look on his face, empty.

He didn't want to be there, waiting and watching within the shadows. He had tried to move his feet. He knew exactly where the door was, he hadn't the need to look to find it.

Time stood still for the Zabrak, it had no backwards, no forwards, and no middle.

    Empty.

He stayed where he stood, watching that same spot, where his Master had been, where the woman had been, together, leaving together. Then the other woman, she'd replaced them both.

He stood and he waited for his Master to come back....

He'd be standing for a very long time, at least until someone moved him...
