  • Time for the basics of a blade!(Torgeir)

Jacob had sent a message for Torgeir to meet him on the moon. There he would give his student a practice blade to use for the time being. As such Rel had a string of them already built for such purpose. To give the Neophytes and Acolyte's something to use till they built their own. Thank goodness for the metal man! But, Jacob would give him a string of colors to use. Red was the color of the Sith blades, but, the Dark Jedi used a whole lot of them.

Standing in the grounds the Templar awaited the arrival of his student. Today he'd teach him the basics of lightsaber combat. Something the mechanic wouldn't have had a clue about before coming to Ruusan. Now that he was one of the members of the Penumbra, Jacob had high hopes for Torgeir.

Stepping from the shuttle a third time, Torgeir had gotten used to the trip as well as the stories that he passed on to the nosy servants and other mechanics in the hangars. Rather overcast, the feel of the moon exuded quite the haunted place that most were told these satellites were. Ruusan was meant to believe that in order to keep their training grounds quiet from onlookers. Everyone on the world below needed to think that their anti-Force stance was being supported by the very people using the universal energy to keep it that way.

Steel-blue eyes caught sight of his master as Torgeir cut through the shallow woods and into the clearing that they had used before. "Morning," he greeted, then noticed the large collection of saber hilts displayed. Today was going to be interesting.

Jacob caught sight of Torgeir and smiled, "Good day, Torgeir. Have you picked out a Penumbra name yet? Another of my students had finally picked hers."

He then waved his hand towards the display rack of training lightsabers. There were all sorts of colors to the blades themselves, but, Jacob didn't have a clue as to what colors. All he knew was that they were made by Rel in his lab using his crystal making machine he invented. The metal man was a great scientist and a solid inventor. Better then Jacob would or could ever be. No wonder Nathaniel was keen about him.

"I thought today I'd show you how to use one of these." Jacob said looking at the saber hilts and, producing his own from his belt he ignited it as the gold hued blade sprang forth, "You can pick your own off the rack here. From what my friend and fellow Penumbra member said there are quite the rainbow of colors."

Nodding, the recently accepted and trained dark jedi knew that one kept rising to the fore when he thought about it. "Lone Star. Might sound odd, but it fits my new life I think. Being on my own and away from everything that's familiar except for working on ships, just felt right." He hadn't heard any of the other cover names that most used in the Penumbra, so there was little to gauge what rules to follow.

Glancing to the hilts arrayed near them and chose one, feeling the weight of it in his right hand, the heavier device feeling oddly cumbersome for something that was this small. Studying it for a moment, he pressed the ignition button and felt the power now emanating from the business end of this weapon. Even though it was powered down for training, he knew that this was going to be something that he would enjoy putting together once his training had reached that level.

Steel-blue eyes turned to his master, "You know I'm more of a brawler, this is going to take a while."

Jacob said with a smirk, "It does seem to fit you, Torgeir."

When the Templar saw his student ignite it and look wide eyed. Shaking his head the Templar remembered the first time he'd ever touched a lightsaber. Well, when he was in the right mind to do so. It was when he first trained with Master Amalia. Ah, that was so long ago it seemed. Till now he'd not thought of that much. It brought back old memories. Good ones to say the least.

"I could tell you were more a fisticuff fighter. No problem with that. This however is what Force users wield, Torgeir." Jacob said with a wink, "You'll learn. We've all had to."

Nodding, Torgeir knew that the weapon would be more of a help in many situations than he had been a part of previously, this new road that he had chosen far and above what he dreamed. Though the Cornelian wasn't about to admit that his childhood dream was to be a superhero, he would become one without the title, he determined.

"Okay, so now that I know how to turn the damn thing on, what's next," he queried in his usual gruff style.

"Now it's time to learn how to use it." Jacob said with a smirk, "Which we'll begin with the first form of saber combat...Shii-Cho."

He then took his blade and shut it off. This was a real lightsaber and he didn't want to use it on his student. Today they would use practice ones. With that Jacob set his next to the rack of saber hilts that were fashioned for practice only. Smiling, Jacob took one of the racks and ignited it as the blade snap hissed to life. The color of this one was a deep purple color and he then raised an eyebrow at it.

"Of course Rel would make a purple one." He joked shaking his head.

The Templar then kept his blade held at his side, "Now, the key to the form is disarming your opponent. Kinda like using a vibroblade. Or anything that's metal. Like sword play really. You can also apply this to actual vibroblades but it's just not the same. Unarmed combat too. Never tried it, but, I've heard it works sometimes."

Watching as Jacob took another from the same rack, Torgeir swished the blade around, trying his best to get the handle on this thing, then began listening to the instruction as he dropped his weapon hand to his side. He grinned at the comment about the color of blade and though purple wouldn't have been his first choice, he knew that some may like it.

"I knew this one guy that could do some amazing things without anything more than his body, in a fight. Me, I'd just grab whatever was handy and beat the crap out of them." Steel-blue eyes glanced to his gloved and covered, metal arm. "Now I got this." The neophyte quickly shifted to another serious question. "Do the different color crystals in these things do anything beyond just cutting? I know certain metals have different qualities, just wasn't sure how it worked with crystals."

Jacob nodded, "Yeah, I could guess that. Just by the way your body language is. Your more of a scrapper. Use your hands and anything else in the vicinity."

He then shook his head as Torgeir shifted to a question about crystals, "Nope. The color crystal is just that. A color. It focuses the blade mostly, but, there are two other crystals that you apply to them. They can have different properties and so can the color crystal depending on how it's formed."

So, the crystals only determined the nature of the area found in and the qualities of the crystal itself. "I thought I overheard someone in the palace say that there were some crystals that were better used for like stunning droids and stuff like that. Maybe I just misheard them or something."

Jacob nodded, "No, they were right. Some crystals have different effects. Like stunning droids...better blade strength. Things of that nature."

He then held up his blade sideways and shut it off. Keeping it that way the Dark Jedi then used both hands holding it up for Torgeir. As he held it up the thing floated into the air disassembling in front of the Neophyte. The crystals then floated between them as the other pieces moved aside. They assembled again into a lightsaber hilt for the moment. Jacob used the Force then concentrating upon it to do that. Catching the hilt though, he then showed Torgeir the crystals with the other.

"Now you can take a look at them." Jacob said, "One of the focusing crystals here...that one is used for a slightly thinner blade. Used for dueling."

The upper crystal in his blade then floated towards his student.

"The other one here that works better with lightsabers period." Jacob said with a smirk as the other crystal floated to him.

"This one...it's just the color one. Gold crystal. One that is rare. It was my grandfathers. The silver one that went with this I gave to my son." Jacob said as the crystal one stayed afloat albeit it seemed to glow naturally with a golden hue.

Listening and watching as his master disassembled his hilt without even touching it definitely caught the neophyte's attention, then noted the layout inside. The various components needed to make this weapon work was fascinating, sparking the interest of the mechanic who loved the nature of machines.

Nodding in understanding, "How long does it normally take to get all the parts and build these? I would imagine everything's tailor made, or do you have a place you can go to get this stuff?"

Jacob shrugged, "You can make them if your good at mechanical stuff. That's not my department."

He said all that with a laugh. But, that part was true though. Jacob wasn't the mechanical type like Torgeir was. You could get basic components and make it yourself. The Templar had to fashion them from a book that was hidden in the secrets parts of the Penumbra where Rel had his lab. Although he returned the book later on after making his saber. Although it was a double bladed lightsaber pike. Fashioned after the old style guards who carried them in the Jedi Order.

Holding his hilt out towards his student, the Templar let his crystals hover towards him then fall into his hand. Catching them he placed both hands behind his back for the time being. Torgeir seemed to be interested in them and Jacob would tell him all he could about them. But, at some point he'd have to show him how to use one.

"I found most of mine on Tattooine, the planet where I was born. I went to an old contact there. He's a Jawa by the name of Ak'tlan. Known him for years. When I went there last his boy was rescued by my son. The two have a merchant shop there." Jacob said with a chuckle, "Just watch them though. Sometimes they like to gouge prices. Even to a friend."

"Time comes for me to make my own, the rest of it shouldn't be that hard to find, but I'll have to do some research for the crystals and figure out where to go for mine. But, that's a while off, I imagine," he mused aloud. Though he had only heard stories about Jawa, he had never seen or been around one. Those things didn't get to Corellia very often, apparently.

He backed and raised the blade of energy and glanced to Jacob again. "So, how do you use one of these? I'm guessing the Force comes into play somehow, right?"

Jacob nodded, "A bit far off from now, but, I'll be here to help you along the way. But, you must build it yourself, Torgeir."

As the man backed away the Templar placed his lightsaber together. Standing there he held both hands out as the hilt disassembled into the components. Everything floated into the air along with the crystals Jacob had held in his hand. They aligned perfectly together placing themselves inside the hilt as he began assembling it again. Closing his eyes, Jacob then utilized the Force, being the eye of the storm focusing his mind on rebuilding it. Soon enough the pieces came together fitting and locking into place. Once the hilt was reassembled the Templar then opened his eyes again placing his real one onto the rack at the top.

Taking the training one again, he then ignited it. The purple hued blade snapped to life once again. Holding it in front of him, he then eyed it then looked back at Torgeir. He hoped that his student was paying attention as he would describe how the form would work. Go through all the basics of it anyways. Learning Shii-Cho was the first and foremost thing about Force users and using a lightsaber.

"See this stance I'm doing? Hold your blade out in front of you and tilt your wrists a bit to the side. Whichever side you feel most comfortable with." Jacob said holding his own more towards the left side, which was his dominant side, "As I said before Shii-Cho is the basis of every other form in lightsaber combat. It's end game is to disarm your opponent. Plus, with every other form if ever need be you can rely on it as it's moves are quite easy to learn."

He then readied himself, "Now, attack me! Show me what you can come up with."
