  • As stubborn as his father(Aura)

Jacob had been inside the dojo today as he found a room not occupied by someone. Today the teen Apprentice would begin practicing his drills on the new form he'd learned from Master Farifax, Ataru. Knowing that his father's former student, Verrj, had told him of it and that he would be a good fit for learning it. So, he did just that. It was rough in the beginning but, with Master Farifax's guidance he was getting the basics of it. He just needed practice and experience more so then anything.

So, taking his training blade the teen pressed the button holding it parallel to his face. Like he'd been taught to by N'yssa. The blue hued blade snapped to life and he began leaping and cutting down with it. Slicing across and then vertically the teen began his many drills he'd placed for himself. Doing what he could till he felt ready to spar with someone. Not knowing who could show up in the dojo he'd welcome them with open arms. They were his fellow Jedi after all. Even if it was a Master or someone who was just starting.

After a half hour of working through the drills, he then took a moment to catch his breath. Breathing heavily the teen Apprentice then deactivated his blade setting it on the table. Taking a seat on one of the chairs he grabbed a bottle of water drinking half of it before setting it down. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out the silver crystal that Caltin told him was rare. Smirking at it he then placed it in his hand fumbling with his 'good luck charm'.

I've been defeated and brought down...dropped to my knees when hope ran out...

Sauntering in the dojo was Aura, her twin saber hilts swaying in unison with each step she took. She paused before taking in the vista of a perspiring Jedi relaxing on a chair, engrossed in a crystal. She noted his saber was on a table so put two and two together that the young Jedi was seeking a spar. She took the seat across him, resting her elbows on the table with her hands folded under her chin.

"I don't think we have met, although you look familiar. I am Jedi Master Aura SunRider. Perhaps you have heard of me, although I have been busy on battle quests so you may not know me," she relayed, a curious tone taking him in.

"I see you have been drilling in the arts of combat. Is it a spar you seek?" Aura asked, her aqua marine eyes settling on him.

Jacob looked up as Aura entered the room. Smiling as she sat down across from him the Jedi Master introduced herself. It was true though, the teen didn't know her face but he'd heard a few stories of her battle quests. As far as he heard from Master Braska a few times. Still, he didn't know her personally but he would like to. It was good to mingle with other Jedi he'd not met. That, and, Jacob was just a friendly person to begin with.

"A lot of people tell me that. Especially the high ranking Jedi." He said with a chuckle putting the crystal on the table, "I'm Jacob Murano Junior, Jedi Apprentice."

She inquired about his Ataru drills and he then nodded, "Sure. I was wanting someone to come in so I could practice them on someone instead of just the open air."

The teen chuckled at his own comment. But, it was true. At some point he would have asked someone if Aura hadn't walked in and said it anyways.

Aura's head then tilted in surprise.

"I never knew Jacob had a son. It has been years since I have been here so I should get used to the changes," she spoke softly before adding, "Jacob senior was my apprentice. Does this shock you?" She asked matter of factly.

"I'm up for a spar," Aura noted, examining Jacob's saber with a practiced eye.

Jacob smiled, "Yep. His only son. I have a twin sister named Renee. She's at the house though. Mom can't use the Force anymore so she's a waitress at Tom's."

When she eyed his lightsaber and said that she was his dad's Master he then raised an eyebrow, "No kidding! It is quite shocking to say the least."

As Aura spoke of being up for a spar he then nodded, taking his lightsaber crystal into his pocket adding, "My dad left this for me even though he's been missing for all this time. I'm just worried about him. Wonder if he's okay or not."

Taking it all in, Aura nodded.

"These are strange times, Apprentice Jacob. To be shocked is not so much a stranger as it once was," she answered, averting her attention off the saber hilt and back on Jacob.

"Im sure your father will show himself when the time is right. I have been MIA for years battling on far planets, hunting down Darksiders," Aura affirmed, her mind lost in thoughts as she listened to the young apprentice.

Jacob nodded, "Indeed they are. I guess the Sith and the Imperials are allies now. That's strange. Then again we are aligned with the Republic so that part isn't surprising."

He then called the training blade to his hand with the Force. As he did he then stood up and rolled his neck and his shoulders. That few moments of rest and he was back and ready to go! Plus he had all those water bottles sitting there and a ration bar so he'd definitely be set and ready to go.

"I'm sure he will. I just worry, you know?" Jacob said then added with a smirk, "You ready? Here goes nothing."

"Eager you are, young Apprentice," Aura conveyed with a smile.

Her hands went to the twin saber hilts sequestered at her utility belt. Releasing them, Aura then pressed on the hidden niches of both weapons and with a snap hiss two cores revealing a teal hue extended into plasma beams. She walked to the center of the dojo with her right light saber elevated and her left trailing behind her left leg.

"But worrying does not change all that what is," Aura added before she addressed the spar.

She gave Jacob time to ready himself as she thought about a simple maneuver to commence with the spar. The Jedi Master closed the distance between them and raked her right saber down and over his nearest shoulder which would be his left.

Jacob gulped. Two sabers? That wasn't even fair! Nonetheless he'd have to try and adapt to it more or less. The snap hiss of his blue training one was heard after the Master had engaged her own. Standing in the center like she did the Jedi Apprentice then cracked his neck a bead of sweat running down his forehead. Taking the Ataru stance he held the blade parallel to his face.

"Two sabers, Master? Not even fair!" Jacob said with a joking tone and a smile.

When she closed the gap and raked her right saber down towards his left shoulder he then did his best to keep up. Bringing his blade up and over since he was left handed like his dad. the teen Apprentice stepped into his defense and caught her blade if only a second. Hearing their blades hiss and crackle Jacob then stepped back. Thinking his own move, the teen then figured he'd start with a basic one as well.

Closing the gap, Jacob made a horizontal slash towards Aura's left arm, raking his own towards hers. It was simple as hers was, but, then again it was just the start. Hopefully he wouldn't end up in a bacta tank!

Aura's eyes narrowed in concentration as she was on the defense now.

"But two light sabers are what I was trained with. I will do my best not to relieve you of a limb," she jested taking on battle focus.

As the beam inched its way to Aura's arm she first redirected her stance swinging her left side from the incoming blade pivoting on her right foot. Her saber from her right would be issued for defense because her left sister blade was down by her legs. With a flick of her wrist she maneuvered the weapon's hilt in her hand so it dropped diagonally where her arm was, then colliding with Jacob Jr's blade in a spit of protest. Backhanded she pushed it away to her right. Then her left saber was liberated as she reined in the beam towards his right hip, slashing it across his ribs on the other side, simultaneously resetting her stance to the front, pulling her right saber back by her right side.

Jacob's blade pushed away with a backhand from the Jedi Master he was caught off balance. That was to be expected since she had two blades unlike his only one. When she swung towards his hip his stance was off and it collided with his hip. Searing into his pants and then his skin the pain was burning nonetheless. He then grit his teeth as he then stumbled back. Keeping his blade firm though he regained his composure. Letting the calmness of his Jedi training come to his aid he let the Force control his pain now. For the while till he could get some good sleep and healing later on.

"That was a good move." Jacob said keeping his blade firm in his hands.

Then he knew he would have a slight limp in his step. But, knowing he was left handed like his dad, he then leaped up and came down in the 'Falling Avalanche' technique that N'yssa had showed him. Coming down hard he wanted to hit the Master with his own attack. As he landed the Apprentice then flicked his wrist up and over to slice across her torso. His flurry began afterwards with slices and cuts added with his aid of the Force. Speeding his movements he then came at her with cuts and slices to her other limbs. Trying to use both Ataru and parts of Shii-Cho the Apprentice figured that his attacks would prove useless unless he could gain an advantage.

"I trust it wasn't a bad hit judging by your firm stance," Aura uttered preparing for the attack.

Aura deduced the pain from her strike posed as an incentive as he approached her with a spray of action on her person. While Jacob landed Aura shuffled back for distance and issued her left blade positioned on a horizontal plane well in front of her to clash and offset his upward attack. She pushed his blade down but he relieved the obstacle of the plasma beam by a flutter of Force swings.

Aided by the Force, Aura checked his offense at her limbs with pivots and spins, collecting her opponent's blade with her left and right right saber by a series of horizontal, diagonal, and vertical holds. Aura then regained her normal volume of velocity as she ushered a V pattern gathering both sabers over Jacob's head to close them in a point at the base of his neck.

Jacob wasn't at all surprised that she blocked and manuevered his attacks. Not in the least. She wasn't a Jedi Master for nothing. Much like N'yssa wasn't either. They had worked hard to get to this point in their lives and he was still on his journey into the Force and lightsaber combat. So when she collected herself and moved outta the way of his blade colliding his strikes with her blades, Jacob knew he was in for trouble.

When Aura came in with velocity ushering in with a V pattern towards his neck, the Jedi Apprentice then backed up as her blades almost reached his neck. Instead they collided with his collarbone on either side. It stung quite a bit that was certain. The teen then stumbled back again this time her attacks had hit a pretty good mark. He wasn't done yet, but, he was sure feeling the pain of it.

"That was a good one. Nearly got my neck on that." Jacob said as he then rubbed his shoulder.

"In time you will offer signature moves on your opponent, Jacob," Aura said, a look of concern etching her brows pertaining to his pain and brush of her saber.

Back into the snares of lightsaber combat, Aura collected herself and approached the consecutive volley of the spar as she entered the battle zone once again. She awaited her fellow Jedi to compose himself and ready for the attack.

With her right leg ahead of the other in a lunge, Aura propelled her right saber, the blade meant to collide with his ribs closest to her angle of projectile. She then flicked her wrist up to slide it across Jacob's torso aiming for his left armpit.

Jacob nodded and then readied himself for her attacks. As she came lunging at him he then used the Force and jumped over her missing her strikes aimed at him. Oh how he was lucky again! Plus, with the Master using two blades she was at an advantage more then he was. Plus her being a high ranking Jedi she out classed him in that regard too.

As he landed he spun around then breathed in deeply and then angled his blade to his face. Then leaping towards her he then came crashing down again then sliced horizontally with as much power as he could muster. Finishing his onslaught he then arced his saber up and then diagonally towards her left shoulder.
